Mayor Penny York (L) acknowledged the importance of the occasion and gratitude for all the heroes, seen and unseen, being honored. Rockland Rotarian Mike Flanagan (Center) initiated this project. Rockland Rotary President, Carol Worcester (R), read the names of each dedicated hero and their sponsor(s).
At noon, the "Flags for Heroes" ceremony, organized by Rockland Rotary, was held at MacDougal Park in Rockland. Rockland Rotarian, Ken Gricus, gave the invocation.
